Portugal Renewable Summit 2018
APREN holded its Annual Conference on October 9, at Fundação Oriente, under the theme Market and Renewables.
The 2018 edition was special, as it marked the 30th anniversary of the Association. To mark this date, we decided to "renew" the event by changing its name. So, the APREN Conference is now Portugal Renewable Summit!
As in previous editions, the event featured the interventions of some of the leading experts on renewable energy. It was also announced the winner of APREN Award 2018 - an initiative that aims to disclose, to the renewable electricity sector, academic dissertations carried out in Portuguese higher education institutions contributing to technology transfer and knowledge dissemination between research institutions and companies.
Watch here the best moments of the event.
Ricardo Prata (PhD) and Gabriel Maciel (Master), both from Instituto Superior Técnico, are the winners of the APREN Award 2018!
Ricardo Prata was distinguished thanks to his thesis entitled "Regulatory Framework Design and Market Response Interactions under Growing Solar and Wind Generation Deployment in the Portuguese Electrical Energy System". As for Gabriel Maciel, he won the Award through the thesis "Development and Mechanical Design of a Foundation for an Offshore Wind Turbine".
Also worthy of mention are the second places awarded to Francesca Poggi (PhD), from Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, for the thesis "SMART RURAL: Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies in Rural Space", and Filipe Fernandes, from Instituto Superior Técnico, for the thesis "Dispatch of a Reversible Water Plant in the Daily Market and in the Secondary Band Market".
