The backbone of European energy system, the grids infrastructure, will be modernised and expanded to unleash its full potential. The Commission's European Grids Package and the Energy Highways initiative, proposed today, will enable energy to flow efficiently across all Member States, integrating cheaper clean energy and accelerating electrification. 

Portugal's participation in the European Grids Package places the country at the center of the European Union's strategic priorities.

The Government approved Ordinance No. 442-A/2025/1, published this Friday in the Official Gazette, which establishes a new financial instrument aimed at supporting energy efficiency interventions in homes. The measure is part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and aims to help reduce energy poverty in the country.
