An energy system based on renewable sources would save the European Union (EU) 1,637 trillion euros by 2050, compared to a slow transition system, which would be equivalent to 9% of the EU's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

European Commission to unveil €1.2 billion plan to improve power grids

The European Commission has identified eight key projects in the energy sector as part of the "Networks Package," which will be announced this week. The plan aims to increase electricity transmission in the EU27. The European executive will also support storage and hydrogen projects.
