APREN conducts various data and statistical analyses in order to monitor the evolution of the renewable energy sector in Portugal and the European Union.
Through the collection and interpretation of data, APREN seeks to provide clear and well-founded information to its members and the general public. This work contributes both to the statistical monitoring of the sector and to energy literacy, allowing for a greater understanding of the importance of renewable energies and their impact on the energy transition.
ACCUMULATED MONTHLY PRODUCTION
Between January 1 and December 31, 2025, 48.9 TWh of electricity were generated in mainland Portugal, of which 75.6% came from renewable sources.

The diagram shows the hourly production level for different technologies, as well as consumption and pumping rates, in mainland Portugal.
ORDER OF MERIT
The indicators on the right identify the savings achieved as a result of the merit order between January 1 and December 31, 2025, due to the contribution of production under the special regime (PRE).
INTERNATIONAL TRADE
Between January 1 and December 31, 2025, the electricity system of mainland Portugal recorded electricity imports equivalent to 13.3 TWh and exports of 4.1 TWh.
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE
The indicators presented identify the savings achieved between January 1 and December 31, 2025, in natural gas, CO2 emissions, and CO2 emission allowances, resulting from the incorporation of renewable energy in electricity generation.
